A while back I took a quick look through my files to see how many research items hadn’t yet made it into the Balance Point newsletter.

I was surprised to find 1,174 different items on the list.

And, since new research emerges all the time, it made me realize that there is just no way to present all of this information to you in a weekly newsletter. Just presenting the information I already have would take over 22 years if published on a weekly basis.

I don’t know about you, but that seems way too long to wait…

In thinking about how to offer you more content it was also clear that many people don’t want to be bombarded by frequent emails. In fact these days email has become what postal mail used to be. The only difference is that rather than standing over the trash can sorting their postal mail, most people look through their emails with one finger on the delete button. I know I do.

However some of these new research findings are really good. It’s a shame to miss out on them if you’re concerned with your health and well-being. So I have come up with a new and slightly different way to offer you more of the most important health news.

It’s called the Balance Point Blog and here is the link:

http://www.BalancePointBlog.com

The blog platform allows me to more easily publish useful information as it comes out, while giving you a number of ways to view that information whenever you like.

For example, if you’re familiar with RSS feeds, you can easily subscribe to the RSS feed on the blog. The link is at the top right of every page. By subscribing you can use your favorite RSS reader to keep up to date on the latest information.

The blog format also makes it easier for you to comment, ask questions and otherwise interact with me and other readers. You simply write in the comment section at the bottom of each post. I will be reading all comments and replying to many of them.

Can I Get Your Input?

Of course, I will continue to send out email announcements about new posts. And that’s where I need your help.

I’ve created a very short (1 question) survey for you to let me know your preferred way – or ways – of receiving notifications. You’ll find that survey here:

 http://www.balancepointblog.com/how-do-you-prefer-to-be-notified/

Since all new articles will be put on the new blog after today, your input will shape future mailings of the Balance Point Newsletter starting next week.

I really look forward to offering you additional valuable information in this new format!

Be well,

Dr. Bruce

Years ago, like many people, I thought that we are all basically the same inside. I no longer think that's true.

Years ago, like many people, I thought that we are all basically the same inside. I no longer think that’s true.

On the outside we each have different finger prints and with the exception of identical twins, none of us look exactly like anyone else. But we are also just as unique on the inside.

In my practice I see this in a very real way with my patients. For example, when doing acupuncture some people respond better to a stronger stimulation of acupuncture points. Others only need a very light, barely noticeable stimulus. Yet both of these types of people respond exceptionally well when treated appropriately.

The same variation in sensitivity shows up in other ways also.

After testing for adrenal fatigue and setting up a treatment plan for restoring adrenal function, one patient recently had an interesting response that illustrates this. She began the treatment but almost immediately had reactions she didn’t like. We sat down to discuss what was happening.

She said, “I don’t understand it. I feel as though I need this treatment, but my reaction to the drops is strong and uncomfortable.”

“How many drops are you taking?” I asked.

“Just one in the morning,” she replied.

“Hmmm…” I said, “I’ll bet you have strong reactions to lots of things.”

“Yes,” she said, “If the label says, ‘take 6 a day,’ I’ll usually start with one a day and sometimes that’s too much.”

“Then we can fix this problem easily,” I replied.

In her case, the answer was to put the one drop of the hormone into 8 ounces of water and for her to take one small sip at the beginning of the day. Reducing the dosage this way stopped her uncomfortable responses and she began feeling better.

Somewhere around 20% of the population falls into this category of being “highly sensitive.” They are often misunderstood by people who aren’t as sensitive. They may even feel like social outcasts in some ways.

Here are some of the traits of these more sensitive people. Can you spot any that apply to you in this list?

Introverted – they often prefer to spend time by themselves rather than be around large groups of people.

Shy – they are far more comfortable around others they know well, and feel uncomfortable meeting new people.

Thoughtful – they will take their time making decisions and don’t like to do things impulsively

Have a rich inner life – often they are very creative and have a great imagination. They tend to love books, poetry and art.

Highly responsive to external stimulus – sounds, lights, smells and even the vibrations from other people have an unusually strong effect on them. The same can be true for medications, supplements, alcohol, etc.

As you might imagine, high sensitivity is both a blessing and a challenge. People experiencing such sensitivity need to have others around them who can appreciate them for their gifts and be tolerant of their limitations.

When they and those around them understand and accept their unique situation, they can really blossom into the creative people they were meant to be.

If cholesterol causes heart disease, why do most people who have a heart attack have an average cholesterol level and not high cholesterol?

By Guest Author, Justin Smith

If cholesterol causes heart disease, why do most people who have a heart attack have an average cholesterol level and not high cholesterol?

Cholesterol-lowering has become an obsession. We are told that our cholesterol level should be below 200 mg/dl, but the reality is that a healthy cholesterol level can be anything between 105 and 345.

So most people who have been told they have high cholesterol, in fact, just have a normal cholesterol level. Further more, cholesterol in itself does not tell us very much about our individual risk for heart disease.

Far from being a villain, cholesterol is one of the most important life-supporting substances within the body. Researchers have found that the body’s cells die quickly if they do not contain enough cholesterol. This is expected, because cholesterol gives cells their strength and structure. Cholesterol also provides the raw material for making hormones and vitamin D.

Sometimes a significant change in our individual cholesterol level can indicate an underlining problem. For example, a low-thyroid function tends to increase cholesterol levels. But in these cases we need to address the thyroid issue rather than just blindly lower cholesterol.

High levels of stress, or high blood sugar levels, may increase the demands for cholesterol – more cholesterol is produced as part of a natural healing mechanism. Medications work against this healing process. Relaxation and eating the correct amount of carbohydrate for our individual metabolism will address the issue more directly.

Most of the cholesterol in our blood is made in the liver. Once the background issues have been addressed, the body will normalize its own cholesterol production.

Low cholesterol may actually be more of a concern. Studies have shown that people with lower cholesterol levels have a shorter life span, and at least twelve studies have shown a connection between low cholesterol and cancer.

There is no evidence whatsoever that a cholesterol level below 200 is healthier. This arbitrary threshold has been set in order to make most adults eligible for cholesterol-lowering medications. Eight out of nine of the experts involved in setting this threshold had links to the pharmaceutical companies that make cholesterol drugs.

The pharmaceutical industry has been very successful in spreading fear and panic. What we currently think about cholesterol is just what the drug companies want us to think about it. A lot is at stake, since the cholesterol-lowering industry generates around $29 billion each year.

It has recently been reported that Pfizer spent $241 million last year on consumer adverts for its statin, Lipitor. The year before, $104 million was spent. The cholesterol lies are getting more expensive to keep.

The situation has been allowed to get so out of control because of fundamental problems within mainstream medicine. Most people are unaware of these problems so I have made chapter 9 of my book, $29 Billion Reasons to Lie About Cholesterol available as a free download from my website:

This past week I heard what I consider to be an acupuncture horror story. The treatment described by this person pointed out 3 'red flags' to watch out for whenever you are seeking acupuncture treatment...

This past week I heard what I consider to be an acupuncture horror story.

The story came from a new patient who had been experiencing sciatic pain down her right leg. It had been going on for weeks and nothing was helping. To top it off, her MD referred her to someone for a shot, but she couldn’t get in for 2 weeks!

Yikes!

At her doctor’s office she was offered the option of getting acupuncture. She readily agreed and they took her to the treatment room.

Here’s where it got odd.

Red Flag #1:

The acupuncturist came in and, without even introducing herself or asking any questions, began treating this patient. Being treated like this is a sure sign of an acupuncturist that doesn’t have a lot of experience.

Better: At the very least, you should expect questions about the quality of the pain, where exactly it hurts, the times of day it’s better or worse, activities that improve or worsen it, etc.

Without knowing the answers to these questions, it’s impossible for an acupuncturist to tailor the treatment to your unique situation.

Red Flag #2:

During the treatment the acupuncturist didn’t communicate anything about what she was doing. Nor did she ask this patient if she was having discomfort from the treatment.

Better: Communication is crucial for effective treatment. This is true not only in acupuncture, but in any healing situation.

Red Flag #3:

After the treatment the acupuncturist said, “By the way, it’s probably going to hurt worse after this.”

What?!?!

Let me tell you right now that although it is possible that such a thing could happen occasionally, it only happens when the treatment is done without taking into account the symptoms (as mentioned above) and the overall constitution of the patient.

I can only imagine that this acupuncturist gets a lot of complaints that it hurt worse afterward. So much so that she mentions it, but only after the treatment.

Better: The treatment causes immediate improvement without any aggravation of symptoms.

As you might guess, after the treatment this patient’s pain got worse. Fortunately, she chose not to continue treatment with this acupuncturist. Instead she called me and came in for treatment.

In my office her treatment not only didn’t aggravate her pain, but she felt immediate improvement. That’s how it’s supposed to work.

What to Look For

Okay, so if you are looking for someone competent to treat you with acupuncture what should you look for?

Basically, here are some positive signs that someone has enough experience to treat you correctly:

Positive Sign #1:

If your acupuncturist takes a health history, ask specific questions about your pain or other health problem and also looks at your tongue and takes your pulse, it’s a good sign.

All of these indicate that they are identifying patterns of imbalance, which in turn will help them make a clear diagnosis and provide effective treatment.

Positive Sign #2:

If your acupuncturist pays attention to your input during the treatment – both verbal and non-verbal – it’s a good sign. In addition, if you have questions, your acupuncturist should be happy to answer them.

An experienced acupuncturist knows that each person is unique and has their own unique level of sensitivity. They will adjust their treatment accordingly.

Positive Sign #3:

Your acupuncturist should follow the ancient healing maxim, “First do no harm.”

In other words, an experienced acupuncturist will treat the problem in a way that should improve the situation, not aggravate it.

Those readers who’ve experienced treatment by an experienced acupuncturist know what I’m talking about. Hopefully those of you who are contemplating acupuncture treatment can use this information to make sure you get the best treatment possible.

Be well,

There are monsters among us.

They’re much harder to spot than old-time cinematic monsters such as Godzilla or Frankenstein, but they are much, much more deadly. By learning to identify and avoid them you’ll be taking big steps towards saving your heath and your life.

There are so many of these “Frankenfoods” these days that it can be challenging keeping up with the new ones. To help you identify them more easily, here is a short list of the worst offenders:

Genetically Modified Foods (GMOs)

Many of the common ingredients used in processed food products come from genetically modified foods. The most common are corn, potatoes, soybeans, canola oil and rice, but there are many others.

Some growers like these GMOs because they are designed to survive higher levels of pesticide and herbicide use, thus making them easier to grow. They’re also commonly engineered to look fresher longer, resist insect damage, etc.

However a growing body of research points out some potentially serious problems with these “foods.”

For example, in a number of studies, rats fed GM crops developed kidney and liver damage. They also had elevated blood sugar and triglyceride levels (precursors to diabetes). Stomach lesions, intestinal damage and immune system malfunctions were among the other effects.

And these problems didn’t take years to show up. They happened as soon as 3 months after starting to eat these foods.

Although almost no testing has been done on humans, another curious fact showed up in workers picking GMO crops – they developed severe allergies.

In addition, some GMO crops, such as Roundup Ready beans, have significantly lower protein and amino acids than non-GMO crops.

My motto is, “Just say no to GMO.”

Artificial Sweeteners

Aspartame (NutraSweet® and soon to be released as AminoSweet®) and Sucralose (Splenda®) are the two most commonly used products in this category.

Aspartame breaks down in the body into formaldehyde and wood-grain alcohol. Formaldehyde is toxic and is commonly used to preserve cadavers. Wood grain alcohol is the kind of alcohol that causes blindness.

Sucralose, which is often marketed as “made from sugar,” is actually a Chlorocarbon. In this case sugar is combined with chlorine. Other Chlorocarbons include the pesticide DDT and the toxic plastic manufacturing chemicals called PCBs.

Problems associated with artificial sweeteners include long lists of health issues ranging from immune suppression to joint pain and anxiety. Asthma, male impotence, lymph cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s Disease are also commonly associated with these non-foods.

Sweet? I think not.

Soft Drinks

Sodas make this list for a variety of reasons.

For one, recent findings indicate soda drinkers are more likely to develop pancreatic cancer. As few as two soft drinks a week increased the risk by nearly 90 percent.

And since most sodas are sweetened by high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) or artificial sweeteners (see above), there are other problems as well.

For example, HFCS is associated with accelerated aging, cardiovascular disease, irritable bowel syndrome, kidney disease and increased cholesterol.

On top of all that, a recent sampling of 90 soda fountains in Virginia discovered the nasty fecal matter organism, E-coli, present in the soft drinks they dispensed.

Yum! Supersize that please!

You Can’t Fool Mother Nature

An outstanding general rule for improving your health and reducing your chances of serious illness later on is this – if you can’t find it in nature, don’t eat it.

The examples above are dramatic illustrations of why this is important if you want to stay healthy.

Be well,

Dr. Bruce

—————————————

For example, the other day I was reviewing Metabolic Typing® results with someone. I was encouraging her to notice how she felt after eating a meal with a specific ratio of fats, proteins and carbs.

Every time I would mention it, she’d say, “I don’t know how to do that.”

I finally said, “Think about it this way – an hour or two after you eat, pay attention to your energy level, how satisfied you feel from the meal and whether or not your thinking and emotions are in a good place. In other words, notice how well your body is functioning in relation to the meal you’ve just eaten.”

“Oh,” she said, smiling, “I think I get it. I want to eat in ways that give me solid, long-lasting energy, that help me think more clearly and that let me respond to whatever is happening with a steady, even emotional reaction.”

“Right!” I said.

She is already aware of many important health concepts. But this conversation got me thinking about how even the most intelligent and educated people sometimes don’t make the connection of how they are functioning with the foods they eat.

The signals are continually there, but we often don’t pay attention to them. Ironically, they are very easy to notice, which may be the problem. They’re so obvious that we miss them. I think of these body responses as early warning signals about our health.

It’s kind of like pulling weeds in the garden. When they first show up, they’re pretty easy to pull out with just your hands.

But ignored, these small signals gradually increase until there’s no way to ignore them. To use the gardening analogy, fixing the problems when they’re big is like waiting for the weed to turn into a fully grown tree. To remove it takes a chain saw and a backhoe.

What are these early warning signals?

There are a number of signals you can pay attention to, but they can be placed in three categories:

Appetite Signals – If you are hungry again only an hour or two after eating, something was off about your last meal. If it was ideal for you, you’ll feel satisfied and not need additional food before the next regular meal.

Body Signals – These include changes in energy level. A drop in energy or hyperactive energy tell you the meal wasn’t your best. Pain levels may also go up or down depending on if you’ve zeroed in on your best choices.

Mental & Emotional Signals – These can be very important signals about how you’re responding to food choices. If you are focused, clear and emotionally resilient after a meal, you’re seeing the results of great choices. If you feel more anxious, depressed, fuzzy-headed or otherwise not clear, it’s time to notice and adjust what you’re doing.

Since you’re going to eat anyway, I recommend you use your body’s signal system to dial in exactly the right foods and the right proportions of fats, proteins and carbs for you. Once you do, you’ll see a huge improvement in how you experience your daily life.

Make no mistake about it, food is the most powerful medicine you’ll ever take.

Why? No matter what other medicine you take (prescriptions, herbs, vitamins, etc.), your food has a greater impact. A plate full of food wins over a handful of pills every time because there’s so much more of it.

So choosing your food shouldn’t be just a casual matter. But it also doesn’t have to be difficult. By paying a bit of attention to just three qualities of the foods you eat, you’ll automatically start feeling better.

1) Eat Whole Food:

This means unprocessed. A piece of fruit is far better than a glass of fruit juice, even if the juice is freshly squeezed. This is because juice has 3 to 5 times more sugar per volume than fresh fruit. And since most people already get too much sugar, less fruit juice is better.

Of course if the juice is homogenized, pasteurized or bottled in a way that requires heat, it’s even worse.

This doesn’t apply only to juices either. Each step of processing removes nutrients and alters the original nature of any food that’s processed.

This means that processed grains (bread, pasta, cookies, cakes, muffins, etc.), any kind of snack food (chips, pretzels, popcorn, etc.) and anything else you might eat that’s been processed before you buy it will be less nutritious than the whole food version of the same exact ingredient.

In addition, if you eat these processed foods you must become a ‘label detective’ to make absolutely sure what has or hasn’t been added to the end result. Most food additives are there to improve color or shelf-life, not to improve your health. The bottom line is, if you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it.

2) Eat Fresh Food:

This one is obvious, but there’s a hidden message here as well. When we pick out produce, dairy or meat, we typically choose those that are fresher.

For example you’d never pick out a soggy tomato with mold on it from the tomato bin. You’d go for the one that is firm, fresh and smells good. The same goes for any other food you buy that you can see in its normal state.

But when foods are processed, we have no idea what the original state of the food was.

A recent NY Times article drives this particular point home. The article details how a group of purchasing managers from well-known companies such as Kraft Foods, Frito-Lay and Safeway took bribes for buying substandard crops as ingredients for their processed foods.

The substandard crops included millions of pounds of tomato paste and puree with mold counts far above safe limits. The produce got by regulators due to falsified documentation about the quality, acidity and age of the product.

That’s not to say that every processed food suffers from these problems. However it does point out that if food comes in a box, a jar, a can, a bottle or a package, you can’t tell what condition it was in before processing.

To be safe, fresh is always better.

3) Eat Food In Its Natural State:

This one is simple.

Ever seen a bread tree? How about a pasta bush?

Nope. Neither have I.

The point here is that if you’re eating food in a form that you can’t find in nature, it’s, um… not natural. The closer to its natural state a food is, the more likely it is to have all of the vitamins, minerals and other nutritional factors nature intended.

In summary, by eating primarily foods that meet the above three criteria, you can be reassured that you’re actually getting what you pay for. And you’ll be getting your food with the maximum nutritional value possible.

Be well,

Dr. Bruce

P.S. – There is one more element to an ideal diet, namely knowing which foods are the best fuel for your unique metabolic tendencies. Since there are 5,760 basic metabolic patterns, Metabolic Typing® is unsurpassed for zeroing in on the right foods for you.

...the human body is extremely complex and each individual uniquely different. This fact means that a 'one size fits all' approach to health is destined to fail. At the very least such a standardized approach will miss things and won't be effective for a significant portion of the population.

When I was growing up during the 1950s & 1960s, I learned that whatever the doctor said must be correct.

I no longer think that’s true.

It probably sounds funny for a doctor to be saying that. Even so, I stand by it.

The reason is that the human body is extremely complex and each individual uniquely different. This fact means that a ‘one size fits all’ approach to health is destined to fail. At the very least such a standardized approach will miss things and won’t be effective for a significant portion of the population.

That’s not to say that there aren’t procedures and techniques that apply to pretty much everyone. For example, if someone gets a broken arm, the process of setting and casting the arm is consistently effective for everyone. It stabilizes the break and prevents further injury.

Of course how well someone heals from that treatment is another story.

A case in point is a woman I treated who had a broken arm. She came in with a cast on her lower right arm and asked me to help it heal faster.

I asked, “How long has that arm been in a cast?”

She replied, “Two years.”

Then she continued by saying, “About every six months I go back to the doctor. He x-rays the arm, and when he finds it hasn’t healed, he cuts the old cast off and puts a new one on. Then he sends me home for another six weeks.”

I was surprised by that and asked, “That’s been happening for two years?”

“Yes,” she replied.

If you know anything about the typical healing process for a broken bone, it usually takes between 6 and 8 weeks for a well-set bone to heal enough that a cast is no longer necessary. For the process to take 2 years is very unusual.

In this case, the doctor was doing what he knew how to do to fix the problem – putting on a cast. However what he didn’t know how to do was to support her body’s ability to heal the break.

He had recommended she take calcium, and she had done so faithfully. But the bone hadn’t healed. It was obvious to me that something else was the cause of the slow healing.

We took a two-step approach to solving the problem. The first step was getting the bone to heal. We accomplished that with acupuncture. Six weeks after starting acupuncture she had her next visit to the doctor. The x-ray showed the bone had healed. This time he removed the cast for good.

Although we were both very happy with this result, I was still concerned about the underlying imbalances that prevented the bone healing in the first place.

To uncover these factors, we started with a Metabolic Typing® assessment. It turned out that she was eating many foods that were wrong for her body. These wrong foods placed a long-term, low-grade stress on her system and set up a state of sub-clinical malnutrition. No wonder her arm didn’t heal!

By changing to eating the ideal foods for her body, she started seeing improvement in many areas of health. She lost weight, her energy level increased and she even mentioned that she was thinking more clearly.

She was so encouraged by this that she also wanted to correct some of the damage that eating the wrong foods had caused her over the years. One of the things we discovered was that her adrenals were in an advanced stage of fatigue.

Through testing and treatment, we were able to turn that around as well.

I mention this case to reinforce the idea that if we simply assume that our doctor knows everything there is to know, we could be missing out on other effective approaches to healing, especially if our body is giving us other signals.

And, if we don’t listen to what our body is telling us, we will be left with only the information our doctor or someone else gives us. Effective healing always means paying attention to the signals our body gives us.

Shakespeare famously observed in a line from his play, Romeo and Juliet, “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”

It’s a very poetic way of saying that what something is matters more than what someone calls it.

But the reverse is also true. If someone handed you a plate full of rotten, stinking eggs, and told you they were health food, you’d laugh in their face. We all trust the evidence of our senses when it comes to something this obvious. But sometimes the choice isn’t as obvious as smelly old eggs.

A similar event is happening right now in the world of health. It involves a well known artificial sweetener that’s getting a name change so it can be marketed as health food.

The sweetener? Aspartame, which is commonly marketed as Nutrisweet®.

Before we talk about how evil this bait and switch tactic is, here’s a bit of trivia for you – before the FDA stopped counting complaints against it in 1992, Aspartame accounted for between 78% and 85% of all complaints the FDA received.

In other words, more that 3 complaints out of 4 the FDA received were for this substance. Sounds like health food, doesn’t it?

We’ll leave the question of why the FDA didn’t immediately yank this poison from the marketplace for another day. For now, let’s focus on the most recent outrage.

Apparently Ajinomoto, the makers of Aspartame, are losing market share to the competition. Their response? Rename Aspartame to “AminoSweet” and call it a “healthy” sweetener.

Yeah, that should do it.

To set this clearly in your mind, here is a partial list of the known health problems associated with this “healthy” sweetener:

Tachycardia
Brain Cancer
Breast Cancer
Leukemia
Lymphomas
Lupus (SLE)
Diabetes Mellitus
Fatigue
Grave’s Disease
Joint Pain
Anxiety
Convulsions
Deafness
Depression
Headaches
Insomnia

Irritability
Memory impairment
Migraine
Multiple Sclerosis
Nausea
Neuralgia
Neuritis
Neuropathy
Numbness
Blindness (due to Methanol)
Speech Impairment
Loss of the Sense of Taste
Tinnitus
Vertigo

The bottom line is that this “healthy sweetener” is actually poison. Based on that, here’s my recommended marketing slogan for AminoSweet: “How sweet, it isn’t.”

All the best,

Over the past 39 years of seeing patients I mostly see very positive results. But about twice a year I work with someone who gets no results at all. I've come up the 2 most common reasons for these disappointing results.

When new patients surprise me with their response to treatment it is mostly very positive. But occasionally it can be very disappointing.

I’ll tell you about a recent example of this second situation in a moment.

As you might imagine, positive responses vary, depending on what approach we take.

For example, it’s very common for a patient to come in with chronic pain, such as back pain or joint pain, and leave the office with dramatic improvement after their first acupuncture treatment. Or, they might start their Metabolic Typing program and report they feel hugely better only days later.

I love these kinds of responses when they happen.

However, about twice a year I see a new patient who gets no benefit from treatment at all. None.

If you’ve worked with me as a patient, you know that I always have 6 backup plans for getting results. And I expect improvement fairly quickly. Because of this, these patients who get no benefit make me wonder what went wrong.

Over the past 39 years of seeing patients I’ve come up the 2 most common reasons for disappointing results:

The condition is so well-established that the best we can hope for is slowing the symptoms down rather than reversing them. When the body loses most of it’s adaptive capabilities, for example in late stage 3 adrenal fatigue or advanced stage cancer, it’s time to call in Western medical specialists to try to turn it around.

The person is hoping for a “magic” pill or treatment to fix them overnight. When they don’t experience immediate, dramatic improvement after one time, they decide nothing will work. Typically this person has hopped from one doctor to another before coming in. They will probably keep “doctor hopping” afterwards as well.

For the first type of person, I always want to be sure we’ve uncovered the real underlying issues, no matter how complex they may be. This assures we’ll get the best response to treatment.

Then, if referring out becomes necessary, it assures they’ll have the best response possible to conventional medical treatment because we’ve already done a great deal to support the body.

This second type of patient is much harder to work with.

I had someone like this come in just last week. He completed his Metabolic Typing profile and we spent an hour going over his results. I felt confident we were on the right track to helping him feel better.

Later that day, after eating just one meal according to his Metabolic Typing plan, he didn’t see a huge, immediate improvement. He sent me an email asking why. I replied that it was still too early to make any conclusions and suggested some ways he could refine the process.

I never heard back from him, but a few days later his wife called me to say that he wasn’t going to continue as a patient. She said, “He didn’t see any improvements from the plan.”

I asked, “How many meals did he follow the plan?”

She said, “Just that first one.”

“Hmmm…” I thought to myself, “A classic case of giving up too soon.”

It’s really a shame because these folks won’t see any improvement unless they stick with something long enough.

The reason I’m mentioning this to you today is that as a reader of Balance Point, you have an interest in natural approaches for improving your health. And 99.99% of you know that a natural approach to healing works with your body, not against it. As a result, you will most often have a gradual, natural process of feeling better.

The problem is that in modern times we’ve all been affected to one degree or another by the desire for instant gratification. And when it comes to getting and staying healthy, expecting instant gratification is fine, but sticking with the program will get you much better results.

So please take this as a reminder that when you’re using natural methods to eliminate those old, nagging symptoms, or to increase your energy level and mental focus, you need to give it enough time to know how well it will do for you.

When it comes to your health, sometimes quicker isn’t better…

Be well,

Dr. Bruce

P.S. – If you’re having a hard time sorting out what is working from what isn’t, or you aren’t getting the results you want, you can speed the process greatly by working with someone who has experience helping people get better using natural methods. Give me a call at 775-827-6901 or email me by clicking here to see how to get faster, more reliable results.
